“The Potter Alone Decides What To Make Out of The Clay!”
“Every cloud has a silver lining” may be a hackneyed English figurative expression but it is still relevant.
Every cloud may have a silver lining, but every cloud also have some dull appearance.
God knew that we are going to be haughty and arrogant or to grumble and argue about the disequilibrium of life so he left us with a perfect teaching aid on the matter.
He gave different lengths to our fingers.
The moment you start thinking that some are more favoured than you are, just stretch out your palms and remind yourself that “all fingers are not the same.”
We are blessed to be counted among the saved because God is impartial and shows no favouritism. Before we think or say “this is not fair,” we should ask, “Why is it that children from the same womb never grow up to the same height? Why do they have different character traits even when they had the same upbringing? Is there any rich family where every member is rich? Etc…
Away from mundane issues to the weigthier issues of salvation Paul reiterates that as far as salvation is concerned “it does not …depend on man’s desire or effort, but on God’s mercy.”
A strong message from Scripture to the Pharaohs of today as it was to the Pharaoh of old says, “I raised you up for this very purpose, that I might display my power in you and that my name might be proclaimed in all the earth.
Therefore God has mercy on whom he wants to have mercy, and he hardens whom he wants to harden.”
Dear friends, when we are enlightened in these things, there’ll be no reason to be envious of any person’s position or blessings in life, nor to look low on others!
Sometimes it is preferable to be the donkey carrying Jesus into Jerusalem than to be a Pilate who has to decide the Lord’s fate!
God is the potter and we are clay in his hands. He has the right “to make out of the same lump of clay some pottery for noble purposes and some for common uses.
What is important is that whether for noble use or for common use he intends to use each vessel for the general good.
Sunday prayer: Have your way with me Lord. You are the Potter and I am the clay in your hand. Make out of me according to your will some pottery for the use you so desire. Amen!
Have a blessed Sunday! Peace be with you!
