“The Lord Will Protect You!”(Acts 22:30-23:11).
Paul was brought before the Sanhedrin – the highest tribunal of the Jews. His detractors had stirred other Jews against him, claiming, “This is the man who teaches everyone everywhere against our people and our law and this place…” They also accused him of having brought Greeks into the temple thus defiling the holy place(Acts 21:28ff).
While facing the Sanhedrin, Paul looked straight at them and said, “My brothers, I have fulfilled my duty to God in all good conscience to this day.”
Unfortunately, fulfilling your duty to God in all good conscience is never actually to the liking of those who have become comfortable with the status quo- albeit that it is wrong..
But when you stand by the truth of the gospel, the LORD will stand by you, and he will set your enemies into confusion.
Paul saved himself by appealing to the members of the Sanhedrin who were Pharisees. Paul was on trial because he preached about the resurrection of the dead, which was a belief of the Pharisees. This pitched the Pharisees against the Sadducees, who did not believe in the resurrection.
As their arguments intensified, Paul was saved.
*The following night the Lord stood near Paul and said, *’Take courage! As you have testified about me in Jerusalem, so you must also testify in Rome.'”*
Dear friend, stand for what is right in all good conscience, and the Lord will fight for you. The Lord will set your enemies against each other while he protects you until your mission is accomplished.
Prayer: Holy Spirit, give us the courage to stand gor the truth of the gospel despite all odds. Amen!
Have a blessed day! Peace be with you!
