“The Ephesian Moment!”(Eph.1:3-14).
The late Prof Andrew F. Walls was a great scholar and theologian whose works I simply never get tired of absorbing. How blessed I was when I had opportunity to sit at his feet to receive directly from him, and importantly to learn great lessons of humility from him out of the classrooms!
It is said, “show me your friends and I will tell you who you are,” but today I say, “show me your mentors and I will tell you what stuff you are made of!”
All the platitudes aside, I am reminded of an article which this venerable man captions, “The Ephesian Moment.”
Here below is a brief summary of the article by another scholar: “While Christianity is a religion that incarnates itself in each culture, the fullness of Christ can only be understood when each instance of incarnation is understood.”
To understand each instance of the incarnation is to accept the fact that Christ is not only for all cultures but he is for everyone according to how God had planned it from the beginning of time.
Some times some people(Jewish-like) act as if they are more privileged in the kingdom than others(Gentiles). If it were so, God would have given the privileged ones a different colour of blood.
We should praise God the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing.” Out of the abundance of grace God has redeemed us and forgiven our sins in accordance with the riches of his grace.
Yes, God had chosen all of us, even me, and even you. And everything is in accordance to the plans he had. We are all chosen and those who believe are marked in him with a seal, the Holy Spirit who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are his possession.
My friend, the Ephesian moment brings all of us in, irrespective of our cherished earthly statuses and delights!
Weekend prayer: Thank you Father for blessing us with all spiritual blessings in Jesus Christ. Amen!
Have a blessed weekend! Peace be with you!
