“Thank You Jesus For Still Loving Me!”
The crowd is more or less a facade; it is not a guarantee for well-intentioned followers worth writing home about. Those who surround you, applaud your every move and pamper you are not there for your interest. My people say the dog is not after the chase for the interest of its master. The dog hunts for itself, not for the master!
Judas is the one who led the “crowd armed with swords and clubs, sent from the chief priests, the teachers of the law and the elders.” Judas was among the outer of the inner circle of twelve.
When “the men seized Jesus and arrested him…everyone deserted him and fled.” When a young man who risked and followed Jesus was seized, “he fled naked, leaving his garment behind”(Mk.14:43-52). What fair weather friends!
My friend, it is not about deciding to follow Jesus. It is about how far you can go when it gets rough on the rocky footpaths of faith where you cannot carry anything but yourself. That time when even the sandals are all torn into shreds! At such moments would you opt out or stick with him to the end?
Yes, that moment you feel empty, lonely, abandoned, though in a crowd, yet keeping on with Jesus Christ, he whispers the blessed assurance, “My grace is sufficient for you! Keep on keeping on! Jesus demonstrated this love when he told his arresters, “But the Scriptures must be fulfilled.” That is why he did not blame the disciples for running away. They had to continue living so as to be his witnesses to the world. If it is happening because it had been predestined, then so be it!
Prayer: Thank you Lord Jesus Christ that you still love me even as I am. Lend me the courage to follow you to the end. Amen!
Have a blessed day! Peace be with you!
