“”Stand On The Promises Of God!”
My people say “you do not dig a new road without cutting across the old road.” The past is very important to any present. Whoever forgets the past suffers from amnesia. To ignore the lessons of the past is not only a betrayal of the legacy of the ancestors, it disrupts the cosmic harmony of the present.
Absolute faith in God means when you plant today, you nurture the crop and wait with confidence for the crop to be ready in its season. Our problem today is that like the little boy we pray, “God you promised me my daily bread. I want it now!” The bread which is given to you today is baked with flour out of wheat that was planted, nurtured and harvested months before.
Talking about the exiled children of Israel God said, “I will gather you from the nations and bring you back from the countries where you have been scattered, and I will give you back the land of Israel again.”
This promise was finally fulfilled only in 1948 with the establishment of the state of Israel in its present geographical location. God surely takes his time!
The prophecy continues, “They will return to it and remove all its vile images and detestable idols. I will give them an undivided heart and put a new spirit in them; I will remove from them their heart of stone and give them a heart of flesh. Then they will follow my decrees and be careful to keep my laws. They will be my people, and I will be their God:(Ez.11:14-20).
My friend, this text is selected as a summation of the week’s teachings preparing us for Pentecost Sunday when we commemorate the descent of the Holy Spirit. While we expect restoration of any lost glories from the Lord, don’t plant wheat today and expect bread from its flour the next day! God takes his time to gather and bring back.
Even so, before he gives you a new heart and new spirit, first remove that “detestable idol” in your heart!
Prayer: Father remove the detestable idol from me and put a new spirit in me. Amen!
Have a blessed weekend! Peace be with you!
