“Servanthood Leadership!”(Lk.22:24-30).
Dearly beloved, this is the day that the LORD has made. Let us be glad and rejoice in it.
Those who mistreat their servants do not know they are risking their own lives. Never underestimate the power of a servant. Servants have been known to spit and pee inside food before serving the food to the masters.
The elephant undermined the weaverbird, but the weaverbird killed the elephant when it made its nest inside the elephant’s ear. The tiger broke its leg in the hole of a cricket. A large poultry farm got extinguished through the invasion of soldier-ants.
A slave is Lord in his home!
The Lord Jesus Christ bequeathed to us a top model of Christian leadership when he resolved the dispute that arose among the disciples concerning the greatest. The greatest among Christians “should be like the youngest, and the one who rules like the one who serves.”
Disciples of Christ must follow his example of servanthood leadership. The Lord Jesus Christ says, “I am among you as one who serves.”
The Lord confers a kingdom on those who stand by him. Standing by him is about being humble like he is, yet having authority that surpasses that of authoritarian and despotic secular leadership. My Church sees the leader of the Church as “first among equals.” There is strength, power, and command in the humble. As disciples of Christ, we should learn to bring ourselves low so that the LORD can raise us high!
Weekend prayer: Holy Spirit, instil in us the spirit of humble service. Amen!
Have a blessed weekend! Peace be with you!
