“Seek To Know Christ More And More!”
On my first two trips to Pietermaritzburg, I went by internal flight from Johannesburg. During my third trip I didn’t have enough funds so I had to travel by bus. The problem was how to leave the airport with my luggage to a town I knew little about.
As I stood outside with my trolley of baggage a passerby stopped and greeted me and asked, “Are you from Cameroon?” I answered in the affirmative, but I wondered how he identified me. He told me he recognized me by the traditional Bamenda bag which I hung on my shoulder. Upon chatting we got to discover that we had once met and socialized in Bamenda around Hospital Roundabout.
Without the Bamenda bag, my kin from Bamenda wouldn’t have recognized me in distant South Africa.
The gospel according to John records that when John the Baptist first saw Jesus he testified, “Look, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world! This is the one I meant when I said, ‘A man who comes after me has surpassed me because he was before me.’ I myself did not know him, but the reason I came baptizing with water was that he might be revealed to Israel…I saw the Spirit come down from heaven as a dove and remain on him…” John went further to state that he wouldn’t have recognized Jesus except that the one who sent him had told him, “The man on whom you see the Spirit come down and remain is he who will baptize with the Holy Spirit.” And what he saw is what he testified, “that this is the Son of God”
There must be something to make somebody identify someone. The Spirit revealed Jesus to John the Baptist in the same way he does today. Believers must have the eyes of faith to be able to identify the Christ of faith. And the eyes of faith comes only when God has revealed Christ to them through the Holy Spirit.
We see and recognize Jesus Christ when he has baptized us with the Holy Spirit. By this baptism Jesus Christ causes those who believe in him to participate in the powers and graces of the new life he came to give (cf Jn.20:22).
Jesus is the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world. He does so not as a garbage disposer but like honey on the breakfast table. He sweetens only the tea of those who put him in their cups!
Pray for discernment to recognize the Lord so as to enjoy the fulness of his powers and graces!
Prayer: Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world, have mercy on me. Amen!
Have a blessed day! Peace be with you!

“COMMIT Your Cause To The LORD!”(Jer.11:18-20).I’m not saying that is what happened, but it seems to me it is today’s pericope that inspired Bob Marley
