“Saved By The Blood Of Christ!”(Rom.5:3-8).
There’s this book by Philip Yancey, “Where is God when it hurts?” Please find time to read the book.
A doubleface Christian is the person who thinks that where there is God, there is no hurt. In hurt or pain, such a person concludes that God is not the solution, so s/he turns to a babalawo or any of those people who offer solutions from the devil. But remember, with the devil, there is no free lunch.
It is noted that people with Hansenaisis often lose their toes and fingers because they do not feel pain when hurt. Pain and hurt is necessary for spiritual growth as well.
Paul says we should glory in our sufferings because we know that suffering produces perseverance, perseverance produces character, and character produces hope that does not disappoint.
Hope can not disappoint us, for as it has been said, “hunger that has hope cannot kill.”
God has poured out his love into our hearts through the Holy Spirit.
God has demonstrated his love for us through pain and hurt. It pained and hurt him to sacrifice his Son, and the Son underwent hurt and pain for sinners like us.
Dear friend, faith in Christ is not a bed of roses. Even if it were, remember that roses grow on prickle shrubs. To pluck a sweet-scenting blooming rose, you risk being pieced by the prickles.
Christ is enough for us under all circumstances and in every situation. Christ is our “summum bonum” in rain and sunshine.
Prayer: Lord Jesus Christ, thank you that while we were yet sinners, you died for us. Holy Spirit, help us to rejoice in the Lord’s presence through submissive obedience. Amen!
Have a blessed day! Peace be with you!
