“Saved By Faith Alone…!”
One of the hindrances to evangelization is denominational doctrines. Denominations operating within the same locality and seeking the conversion of one person comes to that person with conflicting doctrines which leaves the would-be convert confused.
It is even worse if the divergencies come from ministers of the word from the same denomination who come with conflicting teachings. These leaves the believers confused.
This is what obtained with the Galatian converts who had accepted Christ by faith but were later on being derailed by the false teaching that they could not accept Christ by faith apart from the law.
The Galatians fell for such teachings abd Paul pondered “if righteousness could be gained through the law, Christ died for nothing.”
This pained Paul so much that he interjected, “You foolish Galatians! Who has bewitched you? Before your very eyes Jesus was clearly portrayed as crucified…Did you receive the Spirit by the works of the law, or by believing what you heard? Are you so foolish? After beginning by the Spirit, are you now trying to finish by means of the flesh?…does God give you his Spirit and work miracles among you by the works of the law, or by your believing what you heard?”(Gal.3:1-5).
These questions are posed to us today as they were then. Salvation has come to us through belief in the message of the crucified and risen Christ. We are not saved through works of the law; we are saved by grace to do the works that reflect Christ.
Guard against the teaching which emphasise worldliness! Keep the faith by remaining steadfast in Christ through the Holy Spirit who reveals the wonders of God’s grace and love in your life!
Prayer: Lord forgive my foolishness. Enable me to begin with the Spirit and end with the Spirit who reveals the glory of Christ to me. Amen!
We wish you a blessed weekend! Peace be with you!
