“Return To The Lord Who Has Redeemed You!”
In a small booklet, “My Son, Welcome Back,” based on the story of the wasteful son (Lk.15:11-31) we argued that even before the son took the decision to return, the father had kept a tag on him. The father knew the son will return someday..
A mother does not cut her leg off because the baby defecated on it, she does not throw away the baby either. Rather she cleanses the baby and her leg. She does this out of love.
How much more is the love that God has for wretched sinners like us! God’s timeless words which he spoke long ago echoes through the centuries speaking to you and I as if we were there.
“…I have made you; you are my servant; …I will not forget you. I have swept away your offenses like a cloud, your sins like the morning mist. Return to me, for I have redeemed you…”
The heavens and the earth and even inanimate objects like mountains are asked to burst forth in song for the Lord has redeemed us and of course like in the days of old he will show his glory in our land once again (Is.44:21-23).
My friend, see what love our Father has for us: “I will not forget you. I have swept away your offenses…Return to me, for I have redeemed you!” What great love.
This of course is only a reminder. Isaiah opens with God beckoning, “Come now, let us reason together, ‘Though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow…If you are willing and obedient, you will eat the best from the land, but if you resist and rebel, you will be devoured by the sword'”(Is.1:18-20). With such a free offer, are you in or out? Have you stumbled and fallen? Rise up for God is lifting you up by the hand! Jesus (y)our redeemer has come; let’s look up to him for our restoration!
Prayer: Holy Spirit lead me to the Father and keep me in his presence through Jesus Christ. Amen!
Have a blessed day! Peace be with you!
