“Rejoice That Your Name Is Writren In Heaven!”
Jesus had sent out the seventy-two on mission. After the mission “they returned with joy and said, ‘Lord, even the demons submit to us in your name.'” Jesus saw this success story where in his name demons submitted to the disciples as the collapse of Satan’s kingdom and Satan’s end.
However, he told them, “…do not rejoice that the spirits submit to you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven.”
Yes, we are humans, so when we achieve extraordinary feats in the name of Jesus we have all the reasons to be joyful.
The name Jesus has such power that even demons obey those who use it.
Jesus has given us the authority to do what we cannot ordinarily do on our own. He has given us the authority “to overcome all the power of the enemy; and nothing will harm you” (Lk.10:17-20).
Take note: “Jesus has given you and I the authority to overcome all the power of the enemy. This is to say the enemy has power, but you have been given authority to overcome that power and yet no harm will come to you.
The enemy may have power, but in the name of Jesus Christ the Son of God you have the authority to cause that power to submit to you!
Even so my friend, having such authority to do the impossible and even cause Satan’s minions to submit to you is not reason enough to puff up like flour mixed with an overdose of yeast! Rather “rejoice that your name is written in heaven!” in other words rejoice for the right reasons; do not rejoice for the wrong reasons. All earthly authority which Jesus gives you is ephemeral. That is not the reason why he came. He came that your name should be written in heaven! Therefore, remain infront of the registrar and be sure that your name has been properly written in the book of life! Do not boast or rejoice over any earthly authority which you have to subdue any temporal power. Whatever is temporal is transient.
Weekend prayer: Lord Jesus Christ thank you for the authority to overcome the power of the enemy without being harmed. Thank you more that my name is written in heaven. Amen!
