“Rejoice And Be Glad In God’s Salvation!”(Is. 25:8-9).
It is rare to dig a new road without cutting across the existing road – sometimes in many places. The New Testament(NT) writings agree to the above as almost all NT writings explain that what happened as recorded therein was fulfilment of what was said in the Old Testament(OT). Something is not right when we postulate that since the NT is the fulfilment of the OT, the OT becomes obsolete. The OT remains a reference point that shouldn’t be ignored.
The apostle Paul ended his apologetics on the resurrection by stating: “…then the saying that is written will come true: ‘Death has been swallowed up in victory'”(I Cor.15:54).
Nemesis is real; and death has been the number one nemesis of humankind!
Death is the unrivalled proud swallower that has humbled human beings.
What goes around comes around. With the resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the subsequent soon to be immortalization of humankind, death is gradually moving to its dead-end!
Dead, the hunter becomes the hunted. Death who has been our nemesis will eventually have its own nemesis.
What the Sovereign LORD said he will do, he will surely do when the mortal is clothe in immortality.
The Sovereign LORD will “swallow up death forever.” He “will wipe away the tears from all faces; he will remove the disgrace of his people from all the earth.
The Sovereign LORD has spoken.”
God does not disappoint his chosen. The LORD does what he said he will. So let us say, “Surely this is our God; we trusted in him and he saved us. This is the LORD, we trusted in him; let us rejoice and be glad in his salvation.”
Yes; we should be glad in his salvation, because – even in this life – he will surely do what he says he will do to those who trust in him.
Weekend prayer: LORD, thank you. We trusted in you and you saved us. Amen!
Have a blessed weekend! Peace be with you!
