“Rehearsing For Our Priority Vocation In Heaven!”(Rev.5:6-14).
Dearly beloved, it’s another weekend. In this week, we have emphasised the importance and power of praising the LORD; especially with music.
Yesterday, we saw the soothing effect of spiritual music on a possessed heart.
Today, as we round up the week, we are transported to heaven – and this makes sense since heaven is our final bus stop.
The question we answer today is,“What will be our vocation in heaven?“
The main business of the resurrected in heaven is praise and worship. This is not to say this is all we are going to engage in!
Today’s text contains three songs in which humans and angels participate in glorifying and worshipping the Lamb that was slain.
The first song was a “new song.” When was the last time your choir, movement, congregation, or you sang a new song?
According to the new song, – and if we are to go by Christ’s example – sacrificial offering is what makes us worthy. In the song, Christ is worthy to take and open the scroll “because you were slain, and with your blood you purchased men for God from every tribe and language and people and nation…” Gathering us from all over the world, Christ has made us “to be a kingdom and priests to serve our God…”
This new song reveals how, through Christ, God has put a stop to Jewish religious exclusivism whereby they thought God belonged to them alone. Christ is an all-inclusive Christ bringing us from all over, transcending tribe, language, people, and nations – those very things that enhance our separation now.
The second song is by angels: “Worthy is the Lamb that was slain, to receive power and wealth and wisdom and strength and honor and glory and praise.” Truly, we stoop to conquer. See the accolades of a slain Lamb!
The third song is a response of all that is in heaven and on earth: “To him who sits on the throne and to the Lamb bexl praise and honor and glory and power, for ever and ever!”
Three things necessary for us to gain access to heaven and to become part of the celestial chour:
- Guard and protect the salvation you have received through the blood of the Lamb. Fight against the temptations of presumptuous sins.
- Engage in rehearsals that prepare you as an aspiring member of the heavenly choir. Keep singing and praising and worshipping the LORD.
- Lastly, stop creating barriers and divides that keep people in cashew nut shell-like separations.
Weekend prayer: Lord Jesus Christ, thank you for the sacrifice. Help us through the Holy Spirit to follow your example. Amen!
Have a blessed weekend! Peace be with you!
