“Persevere And Do The Will Of God; Believe And Be Saved!”
It doesn’t matter whether you were born a Christian or you were converted as an adult, there is always some enthusiasm at first. But with the passage of time such steam begin to die out and doubt starts to set in. It is during this time that the honest ones backslide. The majority of those who remain may do so for financial gain, power and prestige or social privileges. At this time only few remain because they still believe in what they first believed.
Though they remain, they get bored with routine. They may now be more interested in maintaining denominational prestige than being there for the sake of the salvation they once hoped for.
It is for this reason that there is need for a Revival;” and to be reminded: “Remember those earlier days after you had received the light, when you stood your ground in a great contest in the face of suffering…you knew that you yourselves had better and lasting possessions…”
The reminder must be accompanied by encouragement such as we do to each other on a daily basis. “…Do not throw away your confidence; it will be richly rewarded. You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what he has promised…”
To each individual there is a sense in which Christ is coming soon and when he comes, the “righteous one will live by faith…” And those who shrink back, God will not be pleased with them.
But you my friends who read us everyday, “we are not of those who shrink back and are destroyed, but of those who believe and are saved.”
Do not be discouraged by the vicissitudes of life. Reasons for discouragements will come in many ways, including loss of properties and inflicting of bodily pain (Heb.10: 32-39). Even so, hold on to your faith so that your years of persistence is not in vain.
The Lord whom we await assures us: “Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God; trust also in me..I am going to prepare a place for you…I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am” (Jn.14:1-3).
Again he assures, “Yes, I am coming soon”
Before you confidently respond “Amen. Come Lord Jesus” (Rev.22:20), remember this: “You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what he has promised.” Do not shrink back. Believe and be saved!
Weekend prayer: Holy Spirit strengthen me to keep my confidence and to persevere as I do the will of God; to believe and be saved. Amen!
Have a blessed weekend! Peace be with you!
