“Peace In Christ In Time Of Trouble!”(Jn.16:29-33).
Yesterday, we learned that the Lord Jesus Christ said he intentionally spoke figuratively. Today, in continuing the conversation, the disciples had this response: “Now you are speaking clearly and without figures of speech. Now we can see that you know all things and that you do not even need to have anyone ask you questions. This makes us believe that you came from God.”
Even though the disciples now believed, Jesus told them how they would soon scatter, each to his home, leaving him alone.
Like we said the other time, it takes one who has been there to know what those who are there are experiencing. There are times you are so alone that you start wondering what suddenly happened? You start asking what happened to all those friends who pledged to stand by you in all weather?
Like Jesus said, “You will leave me all alone. Yet I am not alone, for my Father is with me.”
We are never alone because God in Christ has never left our side. Sworn friends may abandon us in midstream, but Christ remains our anchor in a large ocean.
When you learn to be your own friend, you will see the Lord Jesus Christ by your side each step of the way.
When our interests conflict with that of Christ, we abandon him to satisfy our interests, but when bad times happen and we are standing alone, it is then we realise that Jesus remains the best of friends.
When trouble comes and friends abandon us, we have to maintain our peace in Christ. We already know by the words of Christ that in this world, we will have trouble; but as Christ assures, “… take heart! I have overcome the world.” Christ has overcome the world, so those who believe in him are also overcomers!
Therefore, since you believe in Christ, have peace in him in the face of vicissitudes because Christ is with you! And if Christ is with you, you are an overcomer! Hallelujah!
Prayer: Thank you, Lord Jesus Christ, for preparing us to have peace in you in the face of the trouble of the world. Amen!
Have a blessed day! Peace be with you!
