“Mindset Renewal!”(Eph.4:17-24).
Discipleship is about the renewal of mindset. The mind is the element of a person that enables him/her to be aware of the world and their experiences… Meanwhile mindset is the established set of attitudes held by someone. This begs us to define attitude. Attitude is a settled way of thinking or feeling about something.
In many ways Scriptures requires renewal from us because “There is a way that seems right to a man, but in the end it leads to death”(Prv.14:12; 16:25). This renewal requires a change of mindset. The overall objective of preaching is to induce us to a change of mindset. All learning that brings enlightenment leads to a change of mindset.
We become new creations in Christ through a change of mindset as we shed off the old way of thinking and embrace the new and best way(I Cor.5:17).
Today’s pericope is another request for a change of mindset. “So I tell you this, and insist on it in the Lord, that you must no longer live as the Gentiles do, in the futility of their thinking…You, however, did not come to know Christ that way. Surely you heard of him and were taught in him in accordance with the truth that is in Jesus. You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires, to be made new in the attitude of your minds, and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.”
In Christ Jesus we must put off the old self and put on the new self. Only then can we be like God in true righteousness and holiness. And when we are like God we will do as God does.
Weekend prayer: Holy Spirit lead me on the path of mindset renewal in accordance with the truth that is in Christ Jesus. Amen!
Have a blessed weekend! Peace be with you!
