“May The Lord Count You Worthy Of His Calling…!”
The Thessalonian christians had been growing in faith more and more. Among other churches Paul boasted about their “perseverance and faith in all the persecutions and trials they were enduring.”
Paul was confident that they “will be counted worthy of the kingdom of God for which they were suffering.” God who is just will pay back trouble to those who troubled them and give relief to them who were troubled.
Paul concluded, “With this in mind, we constantly pray for you, that our God may count you worthy of his calling, and that by his power he may fulfil every good purpose of yours and every act prompted by your faith. We pray this so that the name of our Lord Jesus may be glorified in you, and you in him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ” (I Th.1:11-12).
The keywords to reflect upon: “we constantly pray for you…”
Many have fallen along the way on this highway of faith because they didn’t have brethren who constantly prayed for them. No matter how resilient we may be in the face of persecution and trials, we can easily break down if we do not have brethren who constantly pray for us.
On the other hand, how often do you constantly pray for brethren who are facing persecution or passing through some kind of trials?
My dear friend, I need your prayers as much as you need mine. We need the prayers of each other. “You pray for me and I pray for you…”
The content of the prayer is also very important. It is possible to constantly pray for the downfall of others. That is why it is needful for the constant prayer to be “that our God may count you worthy of his calling, and that by his power he may fulfil every good purpose of yours…”
When we are thus strengthened by the constant prayers of others, the name of the Lord Jesus may be glorified in us and we too may share in that glory.
Prayer: Lord may this reader be found worthy of your calling; and may you fulfil every good purpose of his/hers to the glory of Jesus Christ. Amen!
Have a blessed day! Peace be with you!
