“Love One Another As The Lord Commanded!”
Strife is the absence of love. Worst still when we profess love with words or tongue and not with actions and in truth. How then do we belong to the truth, and how do we set our hearts at rest in the presence of God when our hearts condemn us?
Remember the adage, “a guilty conscience needs no accuser?”
John who emphasises love as foundational to human cohesiveness says, “if our heart do not condemn us, we have confidence before God and receive from him anything we ask, because we obey his commands and do what pleases him.”
The command is simple. “Believe in the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and to love one another as he commanded us.” When you obey his commands, you live in him and he lives in you.
His Spirit is there to enable us know when God lives in us (I Jn 3:18-24).
My friend, last evening we were at the wake of a jovial, easy going loving neighbour of mine who passed away too soon. In as much as I’ve witnessed and attended a lot of funerals, this particular one was different as it was very discernible that some of us were there and what was passing through our hearts was not the pain of loss, but who was who that was present? Yet, isn’t it true that life is but a fleeting breath?
My friend, nobody should condemn you, neither should you condemn another person. Set your heart at rest in God’s presence, whenever your heart does not condemn you! Believe in Jesus Christ and genuinely “love one another as he commanded us!”
Remember: It is a small world and your time here is just too brief! Live by the golden rule for a better world!
Weekend prayer: Holy Spirit enable me to believe in the name of Jesus Christ and be loving to others. Amen!
Have a blessed weekend! Peace be with you!
