“Lord Touch My Lips And Take Away My Guilt…!”
God has not called any of us because of our righteousness. The other day I asked for forgiveness from the Synod, the ruling body of my church. I told them that if the world is full of sinners, I know that I am the worst of them.
I wake up each night with fear and trembling. I often cry out like Isaiah, “Woe is me! I am ruined! For I am a man of unclean lips, and I live among a people of unclean lips…”
In the case of Isaiah his eyes even saw the King, the Lord Almighty. In my case I keep asking him, “Lord show your face to me.” In the brokenness of my soul I still dare to say, “Here am I. Send me!”(6:1-8). Nevertheless, God still assures me, “See, this has touched your lips, your guilt is taken away and your sins are atoned for.”
Of course, he calls to commission to go and tell this people: “Be ever hearing, but never understanding; be ever seeing, but never perceiving.” It is the burden placed on each one of us.
Sometimes in our humanness we may confuse our voices with that of God. At other times the words of God come through our mouths. Sometimes we receive praises and sometimes we receive insults. We live in perpetual uncertainty because God gives the assignment and does not mind if you can face the troubled seas or not.
Sometimes it is necessary that the Lord breaks us down and crush us by any means so that we must realise that it is neither by might nor by strength, but simply by his Spirit.
And even when we know all these, we do not hesitate when he asks, “Whom shall I Send? And who will go for us?” We still say, “Here am I! Send me!”
To answer is to wait for your instruction Lord! Speak, your servant is listening! So my friend, let it be so for you too!
Have a blessed day! Peace be with you!
