“Lord Show Us Your Compassion!”
Nineveh was the capital of Assyria which at the time was Israel’s deadly enemy. God sent Jonah to warn them against their evil ways. Upon hearing the words of Jonah, “the Ninevites believed God” and repented. “When God saw what they did and how they turned from their evil ways, he had compassion and did not bring upon them the destruction he had threatened”(3:1-10).
Our God is a God of love and mercy who is ready to forgive even the worst enemies of his people and save them, rather than punish and destroy them.
We are eyewitnesses to the destruction that is gradually engulfing a whole nation. There seems to be a moral, spiritual, political and social dearth. The whole fabric of cohesion is collapsing. The Jonahs of today, like the Lilliputans spend time arguing on which end to hold and break the egg for omelette. While arguing the oil is drying in the frying pan and the children are starving!
Even when they have spoken, the people have turned deaf ears and the country keeps collapsing! May we be reminded again, “Cameroon keep God!”
My friend, God is ready to demonstrate his love and mercy on you if you hear his word and repent! Cameroon, God is ready to demonstrate his love and mercy on you if from the greatest to the least you repent; including us the clergy and our animals too!
Prayer: Father God show your love and mercy on us. Do not allow us to be consumed by evil. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen!
Have a blessed day! Peace be with you!
