“Lord, Revive My Spirit So That I Believe In Jesus Christ!”
The chances are that three quarters of Sessions, Church Councils and Synods will vote against Jesus joining any church committee. Some may even go further to excommunicate him! Later on in their conversations you may hear some elders, deacons and pastors discussing: “Can you imagine? What insolence! How on earth did Jesus think that he can be voted as a session member?….”
Otherwise how else can we understand this scripture, “He was in the world, and though the world was made through him, the world did not recognise him. He came to that which was his own, but his own did not receive him.”
He couldnt be recognised because he is a persona non grata in most political, social and economic settings. He can’t tolerate the propaganda and manipulations of politicians. Neither does he accept social stratification that promotes an imbalance between sexes and physical abilities. Besides, he is a social misfit; he challenges all that makes life thrilling. He does not agree with false scales which is a microcosm of economic disequilibrium!
How can his own receive him? He is “old fashioned!” He is too honest! He will speak out against falsehood! He will take many people out of their “chop farm!” What he stands for will crumble the “Jesus company” upon which hundreds of millions of the world’s population depend for livelihood.
Yet, the story is not as bleak as we’ve painted. There is always a glimmer of hope through a remnant. “Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God – children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband’s will, but born of God.”
“The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us…”(Jn. 1:9-14). Have you beheld his glory? My friend, we need a revival beginning from you and I. In your every action and decision does Christ have a say in the matter?
Christ is here with you. He stands at the door of your heart and is knocking! Can you let him in? Receive him and believe him so as to have the right to become a child of God!
Don’t believe in the false security offered by the crowd, because “many are called, but few are chosen!” Pray that you are counted in the number!
Wishing you a blessed weekend! Peace be with you!
