“On that day a fountain will be opened to the house of David and the inhabitants of Jerusalem, to cleanse them from sin and impurity. ‘On that day, I will banish the names of the idols from the land, and they will be remembered no more,’ declares the Lord Almighty. “I will remove both the prophets and the spirit of impurity from the land.”
Theme: “LORD, Open The Cleansing Fountain For Us!”
Greek mythology holds that king Augeas had an incredibly fifty stables due to negligence. The stables held 3,000 oxens. Hercules, the god/man accomplished the task of cleaning the stables in one day. Hercules accomplished this seemingly difficult task by diverting two rivers to flow through the stables and flush out the filth that had accumulated.
Prophet Zechariah considered human sin to be as filty as the Augean stables; filth that had accumulated after years of neglect. Human sin and impurity had accumulated to such extent that only a fountain had to be opened to cleanse it.
Unlike Hercules, the god/man who had to divert two streams to clean the Augean stables of filth, the Lord Jesus Christ is the God/Man, the fountain that God has used in cleansing our sins and impurity.
God’s cleansing of sin and impurity is also about banishing the idols from the land and removing both the prophets and the spirit of impurity from the land.
Despite the numerosity of churches representing Christ in Cameroon, her Augean stables remain filthiest than those of King Augeas – notwithstanding that Christ is God/Man far above Hercules who was god/man.
Dear Cameroonians, as the days slide by into October, may we keep aside our false prophecies, may we allow God a chance to open the fountain that will cleanse our filth of corruption and manipulation; may the prophets partner with Christ to cleanse our filth of moral decadence and deaden consciences! May we stop playing God so that he can be our play-master who teaches us the rule of the game. This will mean a defiant “No” to recycling change!
Prayer of the day and week: Holy Spirit, lead us to the crystal fountain where the healing stream flows. Amen!
