“Lord Open Our Eyes To See What Would Bring Us Peace!”
We live in times when we are being blinded by what we see in the present. Jesus calls us to have discerning eyes so that we can know what would bring us peace.
More than ever before we are callled upon to make God’s house a house of prayer and not a den of robbers! Of course, truth hurts and many would look for ways to eliminate those who challenge business-mindedness overcrowding on spiritual matters. It happened to our Master, so why not us?
The irony of it all is that the threat to eliminate Jesus was not from secular authorities, rather it was “the chief priests, the teachers of the law and the leaders…” who were trying to kill him. Such exist also today, but as my people say, you do not abandon your farm to the wild animals that eat your crops.
They could not kill Jesus because “all the people hung on his words”(Lk.19:41-48), but more because it was not yet the time.
If it is not yet the time, it won’t happen, but when it is God’s time we can only like Jesus say, “Father let thy will be done.” However, we cannot take the present threats lightly and put out hands into the lion’s mouth!
Prayer: Father give us discerning eyes so we can see what would bring us peace. Amen!
Have a blessed weekend! Peace be with you!
