“Lord Open My Heart To Respond To Your Message!”
If Peter had a vision which prepared him to go to the home of Cornelius(Acts 10:9ff), Paul had a similar vision which compelled them to go to Macedonia. In the words of the chronicler, “After Paul had seen the vision, we got ready at once to leave for Macedonia, concluding that God had called us to preach the gospel to them.”
Their conclusion was correct. At Philippi, “a Roman colony and the leading city of that district of Macedonia” they had occasion by the river “to speak to the women who had gathered there.”
It turned out there was one woman there who was like the fertile soil whose crop produced a hundredfold. God had already prepared Lydia to be receptive to the word. We are informed that “she was a worshipper of God.” When Lydia listened to the word of God, “the Lord opened her heart to respond to Paul’s message.” Just like it happened with Cornelius, the members of her household were baptised…”
Lydia did not end there; she invited the servants of God to her home, “If you consider me a believer in the Lord, come and stay at my house.” They were persuaded(Acts 16:8-15).
Even today through visions God is still calling his servants and sending them on specific missions that relates to the cure and saving of souls for Christ. Do not hesitate to respond to the call. There are also many Lydias today ready to respond to the word of God, not only by receiving baptism, but by getting on board the work of evangelisation by providing shelter, accommodation or to help in other ways to enhance kingdom work.
My friend, as you hear God’s word today may he open your heart to respond by bringing someone to the Lord and to provide help to those who need it.
Weekend prayer: Lord open my heart to respond to your message for myself and for others. Amen!
Have a blessed weekend! Peace be with you!
