“LORD, Let Your Will Be Done; Whatever It Be!”(Job 1:13-22).
Welcome to Day Seven of Lent 2023. February lies buried with its Valentine and here comes March. “Beware the Ides of March!”
Julius Caesar was assassinated on March 15 in 44BC. March is therefore associated with bad omens, betrayal and misfortune, like the ones that are about to happen to Job of our story.
What takes years to build can be destroyed within the twinkle of an eye. Days later, after the heavenly meeting Satan went into action on Job’s possessions. In one day Job lost all his children and possessions; except his wife.
When Job received news of all his loss, he “got up and tore his robe and shaved his head. Then he fell to the ground in worship and said: ‘Naked I came from my mother’s womb, and naked I will depart. The LORD gave and the LORD has taken away; may the name of the LORD be praised.’ In all this, Job did not sin by charging God with wrongdoing.”
Without knowing that there was a heavenly challenge to test his heart, Job proved Satan wrong.
Some may say, “the LORD gave and the LORD has taken” is the consolation of losers, but on a serious note what is anyone going to take along on the journey home?
My friend, Job is you! Can you still keep your integrity and bear any kind of shame if Satan takes everything from you? To you who has nothing, do you worship God because you hope that he will change your story? What if the story doesn’t change!
He who gives has the right to take it away whenever he pleases. Do not cease to worship God or to charge him with wrongdoing simply because he has taken from you what he gave to you.
God does not shut a door behind you without opening another one infront for your benefit. In everything, give thanks for it is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you. With God it is not over yet; until it is over!
Dear friend, under the most severe trials, God has not given up on you! So don’t give up on him. He is the same yesterday, today and forever! Our destiny has been fixed: We will go back the same way we came; with nothing – notwithstanding what we acquire or not acquire inbetween birth and death!
Prayer: Heavenly Father, let your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Amen!
Have a blessed day! Peace be with you!
