“Lord Jesus Christ, Let Me Be Where You Are!”
Paul states it insighfully that “the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God”(I Cor.1:18). Even though Jews demanded miraculous signs, the ones that Jesus performed were not enough to convince the chief priests and the Pharisees that Jesus was the Christ. They “sent temple guards to arrest him.”
Jesus told them, “I am with you for only a short time, and then I go to the one who sent me. You will look for me, but you will not find me; and where I am, you cannot come.” They started wondering to themselves exactly what Jesus meant (Jn. 7:32-36).
They couldn’t understand because even though they were religious people, their minds were centred on mundane issues.
Jesus then, as now has only a short time for those who are perishing. The words of Isaiah reechoes to such, “Seek the Lord while he may be found; call on him while he is near. Let the wicked forsake his way and the evil man his thoughts. Let him turn to the Lord, and he will have mercy on him, and to our God, for he will freely pardon”(55:6-7).
This is a call to repentance while there is still time. The wiseman of old advises, “Remember your creator in the days of your youth…”(Ecc. 12:1ff).
To those who have seen and recognized the glory of the Lord in Jesus Christ he assures, “…I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. You know the way to the place where I am going.”
Yes, we know the way because we know Christ and he has assured us, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No-one comes to the Father except through me”(Jn. 14:4-6).
My friend, if Jesus is the Christ for you, rest assured that where he is you too have a place! And while you are still here he is your guide and guard!
Prayer: Dear Jesus Christ, I know you are the Eternal Son of God. Prepare a place for me so that I will be where you are. Amen!
Have a blessed day! Peace be with you!
