“The LORD Is Doing A New Thing…!”
Whoever he was, lamenting the destruction of Jerusalem and the temple and the carting of the Jews to exile still had hope. He knew the God whom he was serving, so he said, “The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness”(Lam. 3:22-23).
God is a God of newness. He is a God of new beginnings. Those who trust in God do not bury themselves in the past.
The hen with chicks tells the chicks, “as I scatter the ground foraging for food, I do not look back to check on anything that has gone behind. I keep looking ahead for good things are ahead. What has gone behind is in the past.”
The LORD, the God of new beginnings assures, “Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing!”
And the new thing he is doing seem to be irrelevant: “making a way in the desert and streams in the wasteland.” We may not see the reason for a road in the desert where people hardly use. And what is the value of streams in a wasteland? But this is where the relevance of the LORD defy human comprehension. When God makes a new thing, he transforms uselessness into usefulness. He transforms lead into gold. Mary like Hannah recognised that when God makes a new thing, he lifts up the humble, fills the hungry with good things and extend his mercy to those who fear him from generation to generation(Lk. 1:46-55).
My friend, never go to bed with despair, and never rise up in the morning with uncertainty about the day ahead of you. Put your hand in the hand of God for him to lead you. “He is doing a new thing. As long as it is now, he is doing a new thing for you, with you and through you!
Prayer: LORD thank you for always doing a new thing for me and through me. Amen!
Have a blessed day! Peace be with you!
