“Listen Carefully To The Voice Of The Lord Your God…!”
Just in the early stages of the exodus the children of Israel started complaining and grumbling against Moses. First when they saw Pharaoh’s army closing on them, they became terrified. They complained that Egypt was better than dieing in the desert without proper burial. Moses assured them, “Do not be afraid. Stand firm…The Lord will fight for you…”(14:10-14) (Exodus 14:14 is the verse that shapes my response to life’s challenges).
No sooner had they moved from there, they became thirsty at Marah. Water was there but it was bitter. The people grumbled against Moses for lack of water. When Moses cried out to the Lord, the water became sweet.
Here God made a decree with them, “If you listen carefully to the voice of the Lord your God and do what is right in his eyes…I will not bring on you any of the diseases I brought on the Egyptians…”(15:22-27).
My friend, life is a blend of bitter and sweet experiences. You may be passing through a bitter experience now. Rather than grumble, petition to the Lord and he’ll make it sweet for you. You may be bitter because you are hurt; rather than being vengeful, cry out to the Lord and he’ll change your bitterness into sweetness. God knows every pain and sorrow that makes you bitter; cry out to him and he’ll make you happy and sweet.
Search inwardly and find out that bitter pill which you cannot swallow, cry out to the Lord and he will transform it into sweetness! Remember this: God did not provide new water to the Israelites, he simply made the same water to become sweet. Depend on him, walk in his ways and call on him always.
Welcome back to work. Look up to God and be radiant because he has transformed all your bitter waters into sweet water!
Have a blessed day! Peace be with you!
