“Life In The Present; Anticipating The End!”(I Pt.4:7-11).
Dear LORD, thank you for another day of grace.
It is said that St. Francis of Assisi was hoeing his garden when he was asked what he would do if he knew the world would end tomorrow? Offhandedly, the monk replied, “Continue hoeing my garden.” Mahatma Ghandhi is said to have said, “Live as if you were to die tomorrow. Learn as if you were to live forever.”
My friend, have you ever asked yourself what you would do if you knew you were to die tomorrow? We often carry ourselves with some self-importance as if nothing can move on without us. We often behave as if we are the reason why people breathe.
In Christ Jesus alone is found the fullness of life. He says, “Apart from me, you can do nothing”(Jn.15:5). Even the people who mourn a dead family member by saying, “by your death my world has come to an end,” soon adjust and move on very happily without you and without any concern about you again.
As long as the Second Coming of Christ has not happened, there is continuity. Even in anticipation of the Second Coming of Christ, there should be continuity.
In anticipation of endtime, Peter suggests what we should be doing until the day of the Second Coming of Christ happens: “The end of all things is near. Therefore, be alert and of sober mind so that you may pray. Above all, love each other deeply because love covers over a multitude of sins. Offer hospitality to one another without grumbling. Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms. If anyone speaks, they should do so as one who speaks the very words of God. If anyone serves, they should do so with the strength God provides, so that in all things, God may be praised through Jesus Christ. To him be the glory and the power forever and ever. Amen.”
Dear friend, may we live as if we were to die tomorrow. May we love and care for one another as if we were to live forever!
It is important to continue living and dealing with one another according to how God wants so that when the Second Coming happens, our good deeds will atone for any prior bad deeds.
Weekend prayer: LORD, teach us to number our days so that we may gain a heart of wisdom. Amen!
Have a blessed weekend! Peace be with you!
