“Let Love Reign Because ‘Love Never Fails!'”
The Churches are full of people with exceptional and varied gifts. Gifted prophetic preachers, angelic choristers, experts in tongue speaking, good organizers, people with deep faith that can move mountains and very charitable Christians.
Paul reminds us that possessing all or any of the above gifts without any love makes us mere resounding gongs, clanging cymbals and thus we gain nothing.
Love is what God has given us free of charge at a great cost to himself – the sacrificial deaReign Because th of his Son Jesus. God expects us to show the same love to others.
Our characters, behaviours and attitudes towards others reveal the depth of love in each of us. “Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always perseveres.”
Above all, “Love never fails…”(I Cor. 13:1-8a).
It is not me to determine whether you love or not. Rather you and I have to do an introspection, that is judging by the above the questions to ask self are, “Do I really fit the description above? Do I accompany the gifts I possess with love for others?” If not, what efforts am I making to ensure that I have unconditional love for others?
Dear friend, you gain nothing if you do not love, but you gain everything when you love others as God loved us! Remember, “Love never fails!” What goes around, comes around! When you spread love around it will surely come back to you!
Weekend prayer: Lord Jesus Christ, just as you loved me to die for me, may I too love others unconditionally. Amen!
