“Let All That You Say About Jesus Prove True!”
It has been observed that the problem of Africa is not lack of religion but rather too much religion. Last Sunday I worshipped in my home congregation, Ntaiton, Bali presbytery. The turnout in church was impressive. After service I went to the historic Ntanfoang congregation. They had many activities so their service was longer but the population was impressive. These impressive turnouts in worship services are the reality everywhere on Ground Zero(GZ)!
The baffling question is, “Why do these people take the risks to leave their hide-outs on a Sunday and come to church?” The simple answer is that the clergies who minister to them, even without miracles have proven through their own resilience that all that they say about Jesus is true. Their resilience have caused the people to believe in Jesus now more than before (Jn.10:40-42).
In times like this, for us church ministers to make the presence of Jesus felt we should be together with the people right there in GZ where destruction, desolation and uncertainties are lived realities! How else can they believe in Jesus if we tell them “stand firm and fear not” when we ourselves are in flight?
We must not perform miracles before the people believe. We only have to tell the people who Jesus is and what he stands for. We must be there as testimony of our confidence and trust in the Lord Jesus Christ. When at last he comes at Christmas let what he does confirm what we have preached, lived and experienced!
Prayer: Lord Jesus Christ I believe you are my only hope, not becsuse of miraculous signs, but because the Holy Spirit has revealed you to me. Amen!
Have a blessed day! Peace be with you!
