“Keep Your Side Of The Bargain!”
Idolatory seems to be on an upward trend. Some are challenging Christianity for brainwashing, others say religious beliefs of any kind are unscientific so cannot be true. Etc!
Our worries should not be about those who say Christians should live and let others live. Our worry should be that “why is it that we who profess the faith tend to rebel against the One whom we know has us as his own? Why must we be constantly reminded of what ought to be?”
God did not want us to be sheepish, that is why he gave us “freewill.” We always tend to abuse this freewill by making wrong choices.
God is reminding us today just as generations of old were reminded: “Do not follow the statutes of your fathers or keep their laws or defile yourselves with their idols. I am the Lord your God; follow my decrees and be careful to keep my laws. Keep my Sabbath holy, that they may be a sign between us. Then you will know that I am the Lord your God ” (Ez.20:18-20).
Unfortunately we have idolized our little worlds thus making God a footnote or at best an appendix!
The moment we entangle ourselves from sin and strive for holiness and also keep the Sabbath holy we would know that he is the Lord.
The Lord Jesus Christ filled the Sabbath with new content that is why our Christian Sabbath is the Lord’s Day – Sunday.
My friend, keep your own side of the bargain; always consecrate the Lord’s Day entirely to the Lord for it to be a sign between you and the Lord. Then you will know that he is the Lord your God. You will see his handiwork in everything that you do. You will acknowledge that you are just a tool in his hands.
Prayer: Holy Spirit turn me away from any idol and let me be careful to keep God’s laws. Amen!
Have a blessed day! Peace be with you!
