“Keep The Lord’s Ways And Be Blessed!”
“I was appointed from eternity, from the begining, before the world began… Now then, my sons, listen to me; blessed are those who keep my ways”(Prov.8:23-32). These verses are part of a hymn describing the role of wisdom in creation. They also provide the New Testament description of Christ as the divine Word that was with God in creation and through whom all things were made(Jn.1:1-5).
Wisdom like Christ calls and is being rejected (Prov.1:24), or as John puts it, “He came to that which was his own, but his own did not receive him”(Jn.1:11). He is the light that “shines in darkness, but the darkness has not overcome it”(Jn.1:4).
Paul says Christ Jesus has “become our wisdom from God – that is, our righteousness, holiness and redemption”(I Cor.1:30).
In Christ is the fulness of life and in nothing else.
This is a mystery of God which we should know: “Christ in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge”(Col.2:3). It is futile when like the gnostics we reject God through Christ by worshipping the gods of our own images.
Dear friend, we are living in very uncertain times. This is a time to make amends; first with God and then with our fellow (wo)men. When the sudden call of the master comes you and I should be happy that we chose Christ through whom all things were made, rather than choosing the things that were made through him. Blessed are those who keep the ways of the Lord.
Prayer: Lord Jesus Christ you are the solid rock on which I stand; do not let me slip and fall. But even if I slip and fall, dear Lord, lift me up. Amen!
Have a blessed day! Peace be with you!
