“Jesus The Risen Lord Makes All Things Possible For You!”
Soon after the resurrection of Jesus Christ, seven of the disciples went out in a boat to fish, “But that night they caught nothing.”
In the morning Jesus stood by the shore, unrecognised by them. He called out to them, “Friends, haven’t you any fish?” Their answer was in the negative. “Jesus said, ‘Throw your net on the right side of the boat and you will find some.’ When they did, they were unable to haul the net in because of the large number of fish. The disciple whom Jesus loved said to Peter, ‘It is the Lord!'” They dragged the net ashore and “…It was full of large fish, 153, but even with so many the net was not torn. Jesus said to them, ‘Come and have breakfast.’ None of the disciples dared to ask him, ‘Who are you?’ They knew it was the Lord…”(Jn. 21:1-14).
During his earthly ministry Jesus told us, “apart from me you can do nothing”(Jn.15:5). Today the risen Lord demonstrates that you may toil all night long in vain if you do it on yourself. A single command from him reverses everything and brings you abundance!
Jesus has made us fishers of men and when we bring them into the fold, he intends to keep them together. The net of dissent cannot be torn, no matter how hard the devil tries to manipulate us!
My friend, when you think all your labours are wasted, there is that stranger by the shore of your life whispering, “Friend,…throw your net on the right side of the boat…”
If you fix your heart on things above you won’t ask him, “Who are you?”, because you will know that “It is the Lord!”
Prayer: Jesus our friend, after all our vainless self-exploits, direct us to where we may find meaning in life. Amen!
