“It Shall Come To Pass!”
Two rabbis were moving in the city of Jerusalem after the desolation. One of them remembered the lamentations of Jeremiah, “how deserted lies the city, once so full of people..”(Lam,I:1ff). The pain was too much and he burst into tears. To his dismay, the other rabbi burst into joyous laughter. His colleague asked him, “Why are you laughing instead of joining me to lament over the ruined city?” The other rabbi replied, “I am laughing for the very reason why you are lamenting. The scriptures tell us in many places that ‘And it came to pass.’ I laugh because i am confident that it shall come to pass!”
My friend, it is all about perception. A positive outlook sees a half full bottle where a negative outlook sees a half empty bottle. But both of them describing the same bottle and its contents.
A bishop stayed up long into the night worrying about his parishioners. God told him, “Bishop go to sleep and leave the worrying to me.”
Hear the blessed assurance from the Lord, “For a brief moment I abandoned you, but with deep compassion I will bring you back. In a surge of anger I hid my face from you for a moment. But with everlasting kindness I will have compassion on you…To me this is like the days of Noah, when I swore that the waters of Noah would never again cover the earth. So now I have sworn not to be angry with you…Though the mountains be shaken and the hills be removed, yet my unfailing love for you will not be shaken, nor my covenant of peace be removed, says the Lord who has compassion on you”(Is.54:7-10).
Yes, Corona virus is like a mountain being shaken but our confidence rests in the compassionate God who assures us, “my unfailing love for you will not be shaken!”
Prayer of the week: Lord you are the solid rock on which I stand because your unfailing love for me is not shaken. Amen!
Have a blessed day and week! Peace be with you!
