“In Every Situation Keep Worshipping God!”
In one day Job lost his five hundred yoke of oxen and five hundred donkeys to Sabean marauders. That same day his seven thousand sheep were consumed by lightning. As if that wasn’t enough Chaldean raiders came and swept off all his three thousand camels. To add salt to injury the house of his eldest son collapsed and killed all his seven sons and three daughters. Of the “large number of servants” which he had only four survived to tell the stories.
After having lost everything in one day what would you have done if you were Job? Remember this was a show of strength between God and Satan. Earlier on Satan had told God, “…strike everything he has, and he will surely curse you to your face.” God permitted Satan to do with Job as he pleased because he wanted to prove Satan wrong. In this first temptation God proved Satan wrong because when all these misfortunes struck, “Job got up and tore his robes and shaved his head. Then he fell to the ground in worship and said, ‘Naked I came from my mother’s womb, and naked I will depart. The Lord gave and the Lord has taken away; may the name of the Lord be praised.’ In all this, Job did not sin by charging God with wrongdoing”(Jb.1:13-22).
Dear friend, the big lesson is this: Remember you were born naked and you will go naked. Whatever you have in this world is a gift from God and can be taken away anytime. Therefore, do not be so engrossed with “ground cargo!” Whatever the situation, continue to worship God so that Satan MUST be proven wrong in his challenge! Everything can be taken away from you but God has given you Jesus Christ as an everlasting treasure!
Prayer: Lord give me the strength to always worship you whether in good or bad times because Satan is a loser. Amen!
