“In All Things God Works For The Good Of Those Who Love Him…!”
The “great persecution” which broke out against the Church in Jerusalem teaches us a great lesson how God uses our troubles to his good purpose. The persecution caused all the Jerusalem believers – except the apostles – to scatter throughout Judea and Samaria. “Those who had been scattered preached the word wherever they went.” In the city of Samaria Philip proclaimed the Christ accompanied by miraculous signs and healings. “So there was great joy in that city.” Meanwhile “Saul began to destroy the Church. Going from house to house he dragged off men and women and put them in prison”(Acts 8:1-18).
As we can note this early spread of the gospel was not the result of a carefully planned evangelistic mission. It was an accident caused by the haters of the good news! After stoning Stephen to death, they turned on all believers persecuting them. However this only confirms that “in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose”(Rom.8:28).
We all know how it ended even with Saul who began to destroy the Church by imprisoning believers. He became the greatest missionary and theologian of the gospel.
My friend, God wants to use that persecution in your life to reach out with his gospel of salvation to those who are being lost.
Tough times are bound to happen, but they never last. Rather, such are ways by which God wants to reveal his glory.
