“Hope In The Lord; He Sees, He Knows And He Cares!”
She was a very active Christian. She never missed a worship service or part of any Church activity. But after the death of her only son her world crumbled. She stopped attending Church. She didn’t want to have anything to do with Church.
The pastor noticed her absence and went to check on her. The pastor asked to know why she was no longer coming to Church. She replied with sarcasm, “I do not see any reason why I should be coming to Church. I’m beginning to wonder whether God really exist. Where was God when my only child died?” The pastor looked at her for some time and replied, “When your son died God was sitting just where he was sitting when his own Son died on the cross.”
In 1999 Philip Yancey authored a book, “Where is God when it hurts?” This is the question the world is asking at this point in time and it is the question you may have asked one or two times in the past. Some like the woman above even wonder if God does exist at all!
Isaiah assures us that God “will not grow tired or weary…” The truth is that no-one can fathom his understanding. God “gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak.”
“Those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint” (Is.40:27-31).
My friend, keep alive your hope in the Lord and God will sail you through these troubled waters. When perplexed sing this song, “God is always near me, hearing what I say. Knowing all my thoughts and deeds, all my work and play…In the darkest night he can see me just the same as by mid-day light…” (Philip Bliss).
Weekend prayer: My only hope is in you Lord. Renew my strength that I may walk and not grow weary. Amen!
Have a blessed weekend! Peace be with you!
