Hope In The LORD!”(Is.40:18-31).
Heavenly Father, as I step forth into a new day, I put my hope in you. I will praise you, my Savior and my God(Ps.42:5).
As a theist, I consider idolatry to be the peak of human folly and stupidity! Idolatry is “the worship of idols.” This was the understanding of idolatry when Isaiah wrote: “As for an idol, a metalworker casts it, and a goldsmith overlays it with gold and fashions silver chains for it. A person too poor to present such an offering selects wood that will not rot; they look for a skilled worker to set up an idol that will not topple.” If this is not folly and stupidity, how can you elevate your creation to become your protector and provider who is so powerful than you that you cringe in his presence! The first commandment of the Decalogue is, “You shall have no other God before me;” followed by a warning to desist from making any kind of idol and worshipping it(Ex.20:3-5).
We have, however, come to idolise everything, and now “idolatory can also be extreme admiration, love, or reverence for something or someone.” The Lord Jesus Christ said “You cannot serve both God and mammon”(Mt.6:24)
The Creator God is sans pareil; even when in our ignorance, we equate him with idols – the works of our own hands. The craftsman and the goldsmith and the carver use material that exists to make an idol to worship. Who made the gold and the tree? Even those who worship the constellations, how did the sun, moon, and stars come into existence?
Whatever we idolise only reveals our foolishness, for they are the works of our hands; they cannot save us.
My friend, if you do not know and if you have not heard, hear it and know it now: “The LORD is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom…”
Do not trust in the works of your hands. Trust in the LORD. “Those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint”
Yes, no idol can do for you what the LORD can do. Hope in the LORD for your present wellbeing and your future salvation in the Lord Jesus Christ.
Prayer: Holy Spirit, renew our hearts and redirect our focus to the Author and Finisher of our faith(Heb.12:2). Amen!
Have a blessed day! Peace be with you!
