“Holy Spirit Lead Me Through The Prophecy Of Scripture…!”
Peter bore testimony about the power and coming of Jesus Christ as an eye witness of the Transfiguration. He was present when the voice came to Jesus from the Majestic glory saying, “This is my Son, whom I love, with him I am well pleased.”
We may not have been there like Peter, but the words of the prophets are there and it is in our interest to “pay attention to it, as to a light shinning in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in our hearts.”
Peter reiterates, “…You must understand that no prophecy of Scripture came about by the prophet’s own interpretation. For prophecy never had its origin in the will of man, but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.”
This of course is not a license for charlatans to devise cleverly invented stories and claim it is from God. Far from that, “there were also false prophets among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you. They will secretly introduce destructive heresies, even denying the sovereign Lord who bought them…”(II Pt.1:16-2:2).
There are so many conflicting voices, so much so that it may become difficult to distinctly hear and recognise the voice of the Lord and to recognise that Jesus received honour and glory from the Father.
There is only one way to identify the Master’s voice in the midst of the cacophony that seeks to drown it. If the prophets “spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit,” then we can only listen and understand them when we read the Scriptures as we are carried along by the Holy Spirit!
Do well to pay attention to the words of Scripture so that like a light shinning in a dark place it will illumine you until the morning star rises in your heart!
Prayer: Holy Spirit lead me through the prophecy of Scripture and assist me to pay attention to the words of the prophets! Amen!
Have a blessed weekend! Peace be with you!
