“Holistic Healing!”

“Holistic Healing!”(Mk.5:21-34).
LORD God Almighty, as we enter a new day, we ask you to restore to us the joy of your salvation and grant us a willing spirit to sustain us.(Ps.51:12).
Today, we draw our inspiration from the story of the woman who had been subject to bleeding for twelve years. “She had suffered a great deal under the care of many doctors and had spent all she had, yet instead of getting better, she grew worse.” Doctors are lifesavers, but they are humans.
On this fateful day, Jesus was on his way to go heal Jarius’ sick daughter. There was a large crowd around him. The woman heard about Jesus, “she came up behind him in the crowd and touched his cloak because she thought, ‘If I touch his clothes, I will be healed.'”
The moment she touched Jesus’ cloak, “her bleeding stopped, and she felt in her body that she was freed from her suffering.”
We have often presented issues of faith relationship between Christ and believers in general terms as if we have a singular story. Each one of us sees Christ from where we are standing as individuals. The reasons that draw each person to Christ are unique to that person.
The woman came to Jesus from the place of pain, anguish, frustration, public humiliation, and stigmatisation. But important of all, she came to Jesus from the place of faith, trust, and conviction in Jesus. “She thought, ‘If I just touch his clothes, I will be healed.” She came with faith, and faith rolled her mountain away! She received immediate healing. Hallelujah!
My friend, if the Lord Jesus Christ did it for that woman, he can do it for you too. Bring your problems – especially such sickness that has troubled you for long – lay it at the feet of Christ. You will be healed! Be mindful of what you think when you come to Jesus because you will have from him the result of your thoughts!
Despite the crowd thronging around Jesus, he felt the woman’s intentional touch. Jesus felt the power that left him to heal the woman. He asked to know who had touched him, and people were like, “How can you say that when all these people are pressing on you?”
The woman having experienced healing knew the question was about her. She “came and fell at his feet and, trembling with fear, told him the whole truth.” Jesus said to her, “Daughter, your faith has healed you. Go in peace and be freed from your suffering.”
The Greek word for “healed” as used here actually means “saved.” The word is understood in this sentence in both senses of heal and save. “Be freed from your suffering” – physical healing – and “go in peace” – spiritual salvation.
The words of Jesus to this woman brought to her full restorative healing – holistic healing.
Lesson: When we receive healing from Jesus, we should own up to him that the power that left him flowed into us. When we do this, he pronounces holistic healing on us, and we become fully restored.
Prayer: Lord Jesus Christ, let your power flow and heal us and our land. Amen!
