“God Loves You!”

“God Loves You!”
Are you a member of a group that considers itself elitist or having a special status as compared to other groups? Are you from a tribe which sees herself superior to other tribes? Are you an individual who considers self to be more favoured than others? What makes you think you are of a distinguished status than others?
Are you a Christian who thinks you are more saved than others? Are you a member of a denomination which considers herself to be the true church of God than others? Are you proud because of the numerical strength of your congregation or denomination? Do you think that is what gives you special status in God’s kingdom?
What Moses told Israel of old applies to us believers of today who are the new Israel through our covenant relationship with God through Jesus Christ.
“The Lord your God has chosen you out of all the people on the face of the earth to be his treasured possession…” God’s choice is not about best choice. God’s choice is because of his love and covenant fulfilment.
God is faithful and keeps his covenant of love for ever. “Therefore, take care to follow the commands, decrees and laws …If you pay attention to these laws and are careful to follow them, then the Lord your God will keep his covenant of love with you…”(Dt.7:6-12).
God’s covenant of love is summed up in this manifestation of grace: “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life”(Jn.3:16).
God loves us as we are, just as he takes us as we are! But he takes us as we are to make us what he wants us to become. Let us partake of God’s love by surrendering our lives to Christ in our daily walk of faith.
Weekend prayer: Lord thank you for your unfailing abd unending love which takes me as I am in Jesus Christ. Make me what you want me to become. Amen!
