“God Alone Knows!”(Job 38:31-38).
There is no doubt that in this generation, some of the Divine questions posed to Job can be considered childish. Today’s generation has answers – or so we claim.
Even if we have answers, why is it that bad things happen to good people when at the same time good things are happening to bad people? Must we always claim that as long as bad things are happening to somebody, that person cannot claim to be good?
What is wrong if a good person stands by his conviction that his suffering is not because of sin?
In the end, we may ask why God did not tell Job that what Job was going through was he, God wanting to prove Satan wrong?
Still, many more questions than answers!
However, God told Eliphaz, “I am angry with you and your two friends, because you have not spoken of me what is right, as my servant Job has”(42:7).
My friend, Job, may not have been a historical figure, but his story speaks for godly sufferers who, like Job, struggle with the crisis of faith brought on by prolonged bitter suffering.
God’s anger on Job’s three friends and his vindication of Job is a message to the godly sufferer: Forget the words of cold comfort that seeks to impose on you that “you got what you deserve!” Do not follow them to define yourself by their worldly wisdom. Stand firm on your faith and the promises of God that can not fail! “All, all is well… All will be well… All must be well!”
Prayer: LORD, I am not skilled to understand; have your way in my condition. Amen!
Have a blessed day! Peace be with you!
