“Go, Tell It On The Mountains…!”
The Great Story happened to lowly people and was first told to people without pedigree. The birth of Jesus happened in the time of Caesar Augustus. Many hold that he was the greatest Roman emperor. At that time Quirinius was governor of Syria. God did not choose these great personalities or their bloodline to bring Jesus into the world. He was born by a lowly girl. The Messiah was not born into luxury; he was wrapped in clothes and placed in a manger.
This Great Story was first told to commoners – “shepherds, living out in the fields, keeping watch over their flocks at night.” These are the people to whom an angel of the Lord first brought the “good news of great joy that will be for all people.”
These same shepherds were the first evangelists as after seeing the baby, “they spread the word concerning what had been told them about the child, and all who heard it were amazed.” They did not end there. They returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things they had heard and seen…”(Lk.1:1-20).
Yes, the Lord does things and performs mighty deeds, not through the high and mighty, but through “those who fear him” and the humble whom he lifts up.
My friend, you too are honoured to be part of the great story. Today an angel of the Lord will appear to you announcing, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all people.” So therefore, “Go tell it on the mountains, over the hills and everywhere” that a Saviour has been born and he is Christ the Lord!
Prayer: Heavenly Father thank you for the gift of our Saviour, Christ the Lord. Amen!
Have a blessed day! Peace be with you! Merry Christmas!
