“Give Everyone A Chance…!”
When schools boycott started in 2017 a joke made its round that “all schools have been shut down except Sunday Schools.” It may have been a joke, but it tells how important children are in heavenly matters.
Jesus tells us that children also have an important place in the kingdom of God. “People were bringing little children to Jesus to have him touch them, but the disciples rebuked them. When Jesus saw this, he was indignant.”
To be indignant is “feeling or showing anger or annoyance at what is perceived as unfair treatment.” Yes, it is an unfair treatment when we undermine the importance of children.
Jesus told the disciples, “Let the lttle children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom belongs to such as these…” So saying Jesus “took the children in his arms, put his hands on them and blessed them(Mk.10:13-16).
My friend, even today Jesus is indignant with anybody who for any reason blocks somebody from coming to him! Who is accepted or rejected is for him to decide and not us humans! It is wrong to make the house of God a tribunal and make ourselves judges, deciding who should be and who should not be!
Once I worshipped in a congregation where the stick used in blocking people not to enter at the wrong time had a cross. I told the people that the cross beckons at all times. The cross does not block people; rather the cross calls! Jesus said, “I will not cast out anyone who comes to me!”
Let us reflect well on human doctrines and decisions that rebukes those who are coming to Jesus. They too need his hands on them and his blessings as well!
Prayer: Lord help me to undermine my self-worth so that I do not decide who to see or not to see you. Amen!
Have a blessed day! Peace be with you!
