“Free Your Heart Of Evil Desire!”

“Free Your Heart Of Evil Desire!”(Jam.1:12-18).
The human heart is the seat of desire. God has filled the heart with greater joy(Ps.4:7), meaning that by God’s expectations whatever the heart desires should be for a greater good.
Unfortunately, the misuse of “freewill” has made the heart to be “deceitful above all things…”(Jer.17:9).
Such a deceitful heart is what gives birth to “evil desires.” When human weakness leads us to give in to our evil desires, we cannot then say, “God is tempting me.” God does not tempt anyone, “but each one is tempted when, by his own ‘evil desire’ he is dragged away and enticed.”
So to say, the devil only takes advantage of the available fertile ground which we advertise to him. Only then does he drag away and entice.
We overcome when we nuture the heart with the things of God, which is to say we do not allow evil desires to have any seat in the heart. Because “after desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, gives birth to death;” since “the wages of sin is death.”
The good thing is that the gospel, the word of truth lights our path, thus enabling us to turn our thoughts away from evil desires. May the Lord turn our eyes from looking at vanities!
Prayer: Giver of all good gifts, Father I cannot thank you enough for manifesting your grace upon my life. Amen!
Have a blessed day! Peace be with you!
