“Fear The Lord And Honour His Name!”
Sometimes we become envious because the arrogant are called, “blessed.” We see “evil doers prosper and even those who challenge God escape.” We get angry as if we are spotless saints.
Meanwhile we ourselves have said harsh things against the Lord. In the present quagmire in which we find ourselves, we have with utter lack of trust said things like, “It is futile to serve God. What did we gain by carrying out his requirements and going about like mourners before the Lord Almighty?”
There is no reason whatsoever to turn away from the Lord because we see evil doers prospering. God has set a time when “all the arrogant and every evildoer will be stubble…”
It is then that you will notice the “distinction between the righteous and the wicked, between those who serve God and those who do not.”
God does not forsake the remnant who remain steadfast in him despite their adversities. Malachi says, “those who feared the Lord talked with each other, and the Lord listened and heard.”
When God listens and hears, then a book of remembrance is written concerning those who fear and honour his name.
To such God gives the assurance: “You will be mine! The sun of righteousness will rise with healings in its wings for you.”(Mal. 3:13-4:2a).
God doesnot abandon those who have unwavering faith in him. Notwithstanding the travails they pass through, he fights their battles and ensures their victories! Tough times never last as long as you are on the Lord’s side! Keep the faith!
My friend, when our homes are burnt down, when we are rendered homeless; when our loved ones are ruthlessly slaughtered and we have no way to give them decent burials, when we are forced to remain indoors for days, when our businesses crumble, when we can no longer cultivate our crops, let us not ask, “Where did we go wrong? Lord why have you abandoned us?” We should rather turn to the Lord, both clergy and laity and live according to his teaching! He is a compassionate and loving God who has sacrificed his most prized possession for you and I! Remain submissive before his presence!
Prayer: Lord Jesus, I have nowhere else to go to, I have on-one to turn to but you. Holy Spirit strengthen me so that I should not envy the prosperity of evildoers. Enable me to fear the Lord and talk it with each other; in Jesus’ name! Amen!
Have a blessed day! Peace be with you!
