“Fear Not, The Lord Is Your Helper!”
When I opened my browsing phone yesterday evening after a meeting, I was confronted with floods of messages that caused me to feel so alone! I confided in a friend the other day that I do not even know again who to call friend and who to trust. Nobody listens to anybody anymore! Then I asked myself, “What is it all about?”
As a people we seem to have collectively come to the deadend of our existence. The voice of reason seems lost, conscience seems to have departed from our presence and the fear of God has departed from the hearts of men. Nobody seems to care or reflect well before acting. Where love, fellowship and brotherhood ought to have prevailed, only seeds of discord, dissension, hatred, scheming and vengeance prevails.
And the victims of all these chaos are the innocent blood that is shed on a daily basis. In our nonchalance the chasm keeps widening.
We are entangled, we are surrounded and we are hemmed! The enemy (devil) seems to be winning. But then, there is the assurance that there is a present helper in times like this.
Just as God spoke to Israel of old, so he speaks to us today, “…O Israel…You are my servant; I have chosen you and have not rejected you. So do not fear, for I am your God…Do not fear; I will help you. Do not be afraid, O worm Jacob…For I myself will help you…”(Is. 41:8-14).
No matter what we are passing through now, God has not abandoned us. No matter what you suffer now God has not abandoned you. Three times in the above verses God says, “So do not fear…Do not fear…Do not be afraid…”
Let the storms rage on, after any storm comes a calm! Let us keep aside the sins which cling so closely. Let us invite the Holy Spirit to immerse us and let us turn away from all idolatory so that the Lord may make his face shine upon us again!
Prayer: Heavenly Father, banish my fears, save me from idolatory and fill me with your Holy Spirit in Jesus’ name. Amen!
Have a blessed weekend! Peace be with you!
