“Father Thank You For Bringing Us This Far!”(Is.63:7-9).
Mr Doh visited Mr Ndibnu and was served a bottle of beer. The beer brand at the time was having a winning contest, ranging from free bottles to other higher prizes. When Mr Doh was served the beer, without taking even a sip, he concentrated on peeling the cork to see if he would win. In the process of struggling wuth the cork, he pushed both bottle and glass. The beer was spilled and both bottle and glass were broken.
We some times fail to enjoy the moment because we focus on what can be or may be. There is this guy who is addicted to gambling. As soon as he has some money on him, he will pick his phone and call his gambling friends for a game. The friends will come and win all the money. They even call him “cash man!” Instead of enjoying his hard-earned cash he calls his friends with the hope of multiplying the money. A gamblers new year resolution can be something like: “This year I will build a house after winning ten million francs CFA through gambling.” Isn’t it like building a castle in the air!
While we expect a bright tomorrow when all will be well, let us be thankful for what we have. It is true that hope does not dissappoint, but it is important to be thankful for what we are now, what we have now and where we stand now to hope for what will be.
The steadfast love of the LORD never changes. Let us tell of his kindness and the deeds for which he is to be praised. The LORD has done many good things for us according to his compassion and kindness.
He takes us to be his chosen who will not be false to him and so he became our Saviour. Each time we passed through tough and difficult times, he felt our pain. But the angel of his presence was always there to save us.
God in his love and mercy redeemed us. He lifted us up and carried us when our feet could not support us any longer.
Yes, let us say, “Ebenezer!” While we look forward to where the LORD will take us, let us praise him for bringing us this far!
Prayer: LORD, thank you that in your kindness, compassion, love and mercy you have brought us this far in Jesus’s name. Amen!
Have a blessed day! Peace be with you! Happy New Year!
