“Ensure That Your Name Enters The Book Of Life!”(Rev.20:11-13).
“Fading away like the stars in the morning…Only remembered for what we have done.” Whether we are remembered or not, what we have done is the basis on which we will be judged.
Both great and small will stand before the throne. The dead will be “judged according to what they had done as recorded in the books…If anyone’s name was not found written in the book of life, ‘s/he will be’ thrown into the lake of fire.”
If you have so much concern about judgment day, you better mind what you think, say or do now. Live in such a way that will guarantee that your name enters the book of life.
We recall that in the middle of the garden of Eden were the tree of life and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. Adam and Eve were free to eat from any tree in the garden, but they were cautioned on the risk of their lives not to eat from those two trees in the middle of the garden. When they ate the fruit of the knowledge of good and evil, God banished them from his presence; saying, “The man has now become like one of us, knowing good and evil. He must not be allowed to reach out his hand and take also from the tree of life and eat, and live forever”(Gen.3:9a, 16-17& 22). Humanity was thus deprived of having access to the tree of life.
Then Jesus Christ came and reconciled us back to God. This has given us access to the fruits of the tree of life through belief in Jesus Christ and living in obedience to God’s commandments.
To keep track of all who should partake of the fruits of the tree of life, names of qualified candidates are written in the book of life.
My friend, this calls for introspection. Ask yourself, just like I’m asking myself,“Is my name written in the book of life?” If you are in doubt, then work on it to make it positive, bearing in mind that we are going to be judged by what we have done, and are still doing!
Weekend prayer: Holy Spirit help me in my daily walk with the Lord through acceptable actions. Amen!
Have a blessed weekend! Peace be with you!
